Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans is simply an inspiration. She was the first free woman of color born into her family. Even so, she held significant political, social, and spiritual influence during the 1800s. This speaks volumes of her personal power and integrity which is a testament to her power. Marie Laveau was highly community-driven and devout Catholic.
As a hairdresser, she serviced many members of the New Orleans high society. Some think the gossip people entrusted to her during hair appointments provided leverage for some of the political influence she held.
Marie Laveau was a pillar of her community. People sought her help and healing in life and still do so in her death. She devoted her life to serving, healing, and uplifting her community.
